Audio enhancements are clarification techniques applied to an audio recording to make voices or events more intelligible in preparation for a hearing, mediation, or trial.
What might an audio expert be able to do with a poor sound recording?
There are many types of audio enhancement techniques that an audio enhancer may use to clarify audio evidence. A few examples include:
- Reducing or eliminating background noise
- Removing electric hum
- Amplifying important voices or sounds
- Minimizing wind or engine sounds
- Minimizing voices that are distracting
Can an audio recording be verified or authenticated?
It is very common, and sometimes necessary, for an audio forensic expert to perform audio authentication on a digital audio recording. There may be several purposes to perform audio authentication, and a few are:
- Determine how the audio was recorded
- Determine the device used to record the audio
- Determine whether or not the audio recording was edited or changed from its original, etc.
Whatever your case needs may be, if the case includes audio evidence, it may be paramount to have them evaluated by an audio forensic expert to determine how the audio can be clarified, and how it can be used for your case.
