Every day that DVR overwrites itself a little more. The police got a DVD burn — but it’s compressed, cropped, and missing audio. The store’s retention policy wipes it in 14 days. And the manager is going to ‘look for it’ next week. Every frame and every pixel could be important — especially when you’re facing trial or trying to understand a delicate family situation.
From old VHS-based surveillance DVRs to cloud-based Nest and Ring systems. Whether local inside a business or cloud storage, we work with every brand and format — Hikvision, Dahua, Uniview, Swann, Lorex, proprietary retail chain systems, legacy formats.
Extract the highest-resolution original files — not the compressed DVD burns. No quality loss. Full frame rate, all channels, audio and metadata intact.
Most DVR systems auto-overwrite in 7–30 days. We dispatch from LA and Fort Lauderdale — often within 24–72 hours of first contact. Call first; we coordinate with property owners, police, or counsel.
Grainy or low-light video clarified. Electronic signal interference removed. Zoom into sections, track objects and people, slow motion, brightness and contrast adjustment — all forensically.
Video authentication and verification. Camera and lens identification. DVR model determination and settings analysis. Detection of editing or alterations.
Every extraction documented from first touch: device serial numbers, extraction methodology, hash verification, transport, and storage. Admissible in criminal, civil, and insurance defense cases.
NCAVF has extracted and analyzed footage from thousands of DVR systems in retail, hospitality, residential, and commercial settings — including cases involving Target, Kroger, Home Depot, and other Fortune 500 clients. When family situations or trial deadlines demand that every frame matter, our extraction work has made cases that wouldn’t exist otherwise.
What’s the difference between the evidence files we already have and what you can extract?
It could be massive. Badly done file saves can compress the original footage by 50–90%, drop to single-channel video, lose audio, and reduce resolution. The original DVR file is what the camera actually captured — full resolution, full frame rate, all channels, with audio and metadata intact.
How fast can you get onsite?
Most locations within 24–72 hours. Truly time-sensitive deployments (pre-auto-delete, pre-demolition) can often be same-day. Call us first — we’ll coordinate with whoever controls the system.
What DVR brands and formats do you work with?
All of them. VHS-based systems, Hikvision, Dahua, Uniview, Swann, Lorex, Ring, Nest, proprietary retail chain systems — even obscure legacy formats. If it recorded, we can usually extract it.
What if the business doesn’t want to give us the original?
We work with your subpoena or preservation request. We can be present when the extraction happens to ensure chain of custody is maintained. We’re vendor-independent — no equipment sales — and we’re experts in most DVR and camera systems and ready to jump into any situation.
What does DVR extraction cost?
Depends on travel, urgency, system complexity, and whether expert reports or testimony are required. Free consultation gives you a firm quote and timeline before any commitment.
To give every case the attention it deserves — evidence review, expert analysis, court-ready exhibits, and testimony prep — we cap new engagements.
If your trial date is approaching, don’t wait. Most forensic enhancement work requires 2–3 weeks lead time for court-ready reports and expert testimony prep.
