After a number of years of using a wearable audio device, commonly called a DAR (Digital Audio Recorder), your local police officer is now testing wearable video devices. The audio recorder is used anytime there may be interaction with the public, as a piece of evidence that can be brought to court if needed.
Video technology has finally gotten small enough to allow for miniature video cameras to be worn by officers and used in court also.
I attended a meeting of police officers recently in which they discussed how they are testing these worn video cameras, so it’s coming soon to a community near you.
Of course, some officers are against this, and some are for it, but all seemed resigned to the fact that it WILL come.
